I am not one of those “early adaptors” that buy the newest of electronic toys or jump online to discover the latest and greatest new thing that has just been released. However, I am a great online shopper because I have discovered how to find good stores!

Many people will look for stores that have coupons of 5 to 10% off but I have found that these coupons can be deceiving. While you can find some deals, many of the products that have the higher discounted coupons are sub par and not what I would consider worth what I ended up paying.

I remember the “deals” you could get when everything was mail order. I once was so excited about all these “freebies” I was getting only to be extremely disappointed when I received them in the mail. They were made of very cheap plastics and were not what they were made out to be. It was at that time I remember saying to myself, “you do get what you pay for”.

So with that in mind, I still look for coupons but I look for a dollar amount and I don’t care if it’s $5 or $25 because anything I can save is better than no savings. Knowing someone with an online store has also helped me understand how they function.

The first thing that you hear is how cheap it is to start an online business. While it is cheaper than starting a brick and mortar business, it is not cheap. It can also be very time consuming as well, if you are running a legit store that has a phone number associated with it that is answered during business hours.

A good online store does not just run itself so look for that number to call if you have questions. Also look for the secured checkout and the security seal to make sure the website can be trusted with your credit card information. Note that most credit card fraud is committed by people accessing your mail. Very few have issues for online transactions.

Once you have found a good store and you like their products and their service, bookmark it so you can use them again down the line. While many choose to use the main retailers online I have found that the specialty online store strives to take care of me much more than the large retailers so don’t be afraid to try some of these types of stores.
